KC Crawford, Armour
“Easy” is not a word you’ll find in the vocabulary of Cabot Guns or KC Crawford. Just the opposite: it’s only worth doing if it’s a challenge. With this shared philosophy, it’s no surprise that KC, an expert bullseye pistolsmith since 1984, quickly became a friend of Cabot Guns.
A U.S. Marine for 22 years, KC served as a USMC 2112 Rifle Team Equipment Repairman and then as Chief Instructor, Pistol Section, RTE Shop at Quantico, VA. It’s in the Marines where KC discovered his calling, “At first building pistols was not easy. The challenge stuck a harmony with me. The pistol is where I found my passion,” said KC.
Brian “Gunny” Zins, Cabot Spokesman and Ambassador first introduced KC to Cabot Guns; Gunny and KC served together in the Marines. KC then toured the Cabot Guns facility at Penn United Technologies and was impressed with the precision and dedication to perfection.
“I was skeptical at first, but then once I toured the plant I saw that the process was flawless. The tolerances were even tighter than what they said they would be,” remarked KC.
What struck KC more than Cabot’s machining capabilities was the overall atmosphere, “When touring the plant, they wave and say ‘Hi.’ Cabot is a friendly, inviting atmosphere where people really enjoy what they are doing.”
KC specializes in NRA bullseye pistols, 1911 trigger work, re-barreling autos and black parkerizing. He also offers custom milling for sights. Because of the time and attention he pours into each piece, KC takes only a few customers each year.
“The guys that buy my guns, they start out as acquaintances but over the process of creating their gun, they become friends,” remarked KC. “I do this because I want to make people happy.”
