GI/CLASSIC
GI/Classic – Built to near-unreasonably perfect Cabot specifications and to aerospace fit tolerances, the GI/Classic is the purest embodiment of John Moses Browning’s original 1911 design. Truly a piece of living American history, the GI Classic is Cabot’s tip of the proverbial cap to the genius that inspired an American icon.

The GI/Classic represents Cabot’s homage to American inventor and father of the modern firearm – John Moses Browning. His model 1911 pistol has armed American servicemen in overseas engagements throughout World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. It has become nothing less than an iconic emblem of Americana. Even today, civilian shooters, law enforcement agencies, and specialty units of the armed forces of the United States turn to the .45ACP caliber 1911 as their sidearm of choice. A 100 year pedigree of durability and reliability is hard to improve upon, but Cabot has done just that – we’ve approached the classic 1911 design through the lens of modern manufacturing techniques, unmatched quality control, and an attention to detail which borderlines on the obsessive.
Each GI/Classic is a clone reproduced from the original ordnance prints issued to American armories for production after the design was adopted by the Army as the Standard US Service Pistol, Model 1911 in March of 1911. Cabot has improved upon the perfection of the timeless design by ensuring that each GI/Classic produced follows the original ordnance specifications to within two-ten-thousandths of an inch, precision achievable only by employing the highest quality CNC machine tools operated by the highest trained personnel. As with all of our products, every individual piece of the GI/Classic is American made and passes through rigorous quality control measures.
Solidifying our commitment to Browning’s original design, the GI/Classic is offered standard with the same style synthetic grips that were found on these pistols as they left armories one-hundred years ago destined to serve alongside American Doughboys on the battlefields of war-torn Europe. The smooth 1911A1 styling of the GI/Classic is offered in our striking, stand-out blued finish. Other companies can claim their 1911’s are “mil-spec,” but only Cabot guarantees that the 1911 we produce is truly a factory-original reproduction. Every detail, down to the trigger-pad and the lanyard ring at the butt of the pistol is ordnance-print standard. When available American-made parts couldn’t meet the stringent levels of perfection demanded by Cabot’s engineers, we made our own - including painstakingly recreating the GI style sights atop the slide. Cabot’s guiding principle of remaining 100% American-made is matched by our commitment to ensuring a product of unmatched quality. When it comes to our 1911’s, especially one as historically significant as our GI/Classic, Cabot Guns will cut not a single corner in our pursuit of the perfect handgun.
Holding the GI/Classic is to lay hands on living American history, firing one is to echo over one-hundred years of the sounds of liberty, and owning one is to become a part of the National Pride that is embodied by the timelessness of the model 1911 pistol. Whether it graces your wall or rides on your hip, the Cabot Guns GI/Classic truly is a shining example of the 1911 pistol.

Yes. We offer the world’s first “post custom.” Our term. Cabot 1911′s are not just another pistol. Never ever. We’ve been living this creation for years. Cabot 1911’s are a new standard of quality never seen before in the gun world.
And, we dare say, a perfect fit. The frame and slide are manufactured to fit more accurately than can be done by the human hand. In fact, the tightness of our fit is 0.001 inches. This is our own long-earned and long-invested proprietary technology.
With attitude and pedigree. That’s how we approached the manufacture of our 1911 guns along with a refusal to settle for anything less than the best of both. Specifically, we challenged America’s top engineers, machinists and master craftsmen to build the perfect precision handgun from scratch without compromise and what resulted is a superior collection of 1911 pistols made from only the finest of materials, technology and minds that this great country has to offer.
Shooting a Cabot Pistol, Brian "Gunny Zins" wins the 2012 NRA National Pistol Championship in the first year a Cabot Gun debuts at the competition.
It’s simple. Every one of our 1911 pistols exceed national match standards right “out of the box.” Less simple is what that took to achieve: The parts on every frame and slide production run are inspected by a coordinate measuring machine accurate to 40 millionth of an inch to confirm the aerospace tolerance fit of our guns. When the all-time greatest bullseye pistol marksman picks a gun to shoot it's a Cabot.
